Police are now investigating an incident in which a man was seen masturbating in his van along a busy road in Sandown.
As previously reported by Island Echo, a male was seen pleasuring himself in his VW Transporter van on Avenue Road in Sandown.
Police indicated yesterday (Thursday) that an official report of the incident had not been made to them – despite a video circulating widely across social media.
It has now been confirmed to Island Echo that Police have been informed and have launched an investigation into the indecent exposure.
A spokesperson from Hampshire Constabulary has said:
“Local officers will be following up this report, and we encourage anyone with any additional information about this incident to report this to police on 101, quoting 44220261133.
“These kinds of incidents cause significant community concern, and we will not tolerate this kind of indecent behaviour.
“We will be patrolling the area, and ask anyone who witnesses this type of behaviour to report it to police immediately. If a crime is in progress, dial 999”

UPDATE SATURDAY – Police have confirmed that a 51-year-old man from Cowes has been arrested on suspicion of Outraging Public Decency following Wednesday’s incident.
He remains in Police Custody at this time.
UPDATE SATURDAY @ 14:46 – The 51-year-old has been released on bail, pending further investigations.
Oh suddenly they will investigate a report that only has video evidence they normally tell you to bugger off. Funny when it has public interest they seem to do their job to the full.

the police only now started to investigate a complaint having informed me that there are no available officers to attend the scene, a strong letter to Hampshire Constabluary c/o Olivia Pinkney informing the Hampshire Constabluary that i have CCTV of the criminal damage undertaken by 4 Youths this footage is now in the hands of the police lets see if my complaint is investigated and resolved ?

Hmm, well it only appears that it was an indecent act after the fact. People have been “outraged” by the video rather than seeing the act take place so really, who is the perpetrator, the van driver or the person that posted the video? If the person had filmed the event was so disgusted why didn’t they take the van number and then call the police?
