A road traffic collision on The Downs at Ashey has resulted in Police closing the road in both directions this afternoon (Tuesday).
The incident has occurred between the junctions of East Ashey Lane and Brading Down Road.
Island Echo is told that a vehicle is on its side.
Police and paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are on scene having been alerted to the incident at just before 16:10.
Motorists heading to and from Ryde are being diverted via Brading and Brading Down Road.
UPDATE @ 16:50 – No serious injuries have been sustained and recovery of the vehicles involved is underway.
The road remains closed in both directions as rush hour approaches.
UPDATE @ 17:35 – The road has now reopened.
