There is disruption to Island Line trains this morning (Sunday) due to a points failure at Sandown.
Trains have been suspended between Brading and Shanklin as a result of the issue, but are understood to still be running between Ryde Pier Head and Brading.
Island Line anticipate disruption will continue until 10:00.
UPDATE @ 09:40 – Island Line services have now resumed to a normal Sunday timetable.
Always stoppping the trains for awful reasons! Why can’t people just work them properly!.
They do work properly. What is wrong with you? This is the first issue with their kit they have had. All other issues has been staff off ill.
Why don’t you leave the island if your happy here you will not be missed
Perhaps tar Mac the entire track and tun electric mini buses would have been more sensible
You are just sore that the new trains work and are so much better than any stupid plan you have. Trains are far more energy efficient. It’s why train networks persist. And the CO2 released by ‘tarmacking’ the route, any other bright ideas brain box.
BTW they have done what you suggest in Gosport, it’s crap. And because they also have to use the road, they constantly get stuck in traffic. The old rail routes they had were far better.
I appreciate that you will occasionally suffer from the failure on one piece of equipment or another, BUT, just how much did they spend upgrading the Islands rail infrastructure? And, I seem to recall that it was more than a ‘little’ late completing, and there were issues with the software used by the trains!
The Island line, per mile, must hold the record for stoppages and operational ‘difficulties’ in the whole country.
Come on SW Rail – get your act together. It is supposed to be a public transport service, and yet we still do not have a half-hour schedule running!
The railway is all about safety and issues happen all overe the counrty all the time. It has nothing to do with SWR at all as the stations and all the infrastucture is owned and operated by network rail. Remeber what that stupid woman did back in the 80’s mate is privitised everything. If your are old enought you will remenber british rail run the ferrys every half hour with no issues, trains run all the time with no issues. One state owned company no share holders. We had british gas and southern electric thats why we are paying silly money because of her decisions we are all now suffering. Glad she brown bread really
Well the staff try there best, equipment failures are beyond there control.
There was a problem that was fixed very quickly. Get over it.
However it was not fixed quickly , 4 hours , I was on that train at 6:50am this morning and had to call my dad to ask him if he could pick me up from Brading to shanklin for work at 7:30. Luckily he could but if not there wasn’t a bus I could get as next one was at 7:59!
If it’s not a person on the track or a covid related problem it’s something else they can make up
Still cannot understand why we need the Island railway. They cannot make any money out of it.
