Top Isle of Wight motorcycle trials rider Chris Stay proved that he is on his way to the top of his sport with a excellent 3rd place finish in the national Jack White Trial on the outskirts of Sheffield last weekend.

Competing against 150 riders from around the country, Chris was well in contention to chalk up another win at the half way stage. However, a costly mistake on a relatively easy part of the course when his back wheel slipped out whilst riding up a rocky stream bed was the difference between 1st and 3rd on the day.

Such is the standard of riding at this level that while Chris lost a mere 11 points on the 50 section course, there were still some riders that lost over 170 marks.

The only other Island rider competing was Josh Stephens from St Helens who travelled up with Chris and had a great ride to finish in 25th place after riding for over 6 hours.

The next national trial is on Back Holiday Monday when both Chris and Josh will be heading to North Wales for the Lomax Trophy Trial.
