The Boots Pharmacy located in Cowes Medical Centre has been sold and taken over by independent chain, Jhoots. The final day of operation at the Boots Pharmacy was Friday (8th March), with Jhoots set to take over imminently. Boots has said that they will transfer any patients who have nominated Boots Cowes as their preferred pharmacy to the new Jhoots branch. Whilst the switch takes place, prescriptions will be uploaded to a cloud database so that those in need can still receive their prescription at other pharmacies. A spokesperson for Cowes Medical Centre, has said:
“Having your prescription sent to the ‘cloud’ means you can go into any pharmacy and ask them to ‘download your prescription’ and fill it. You will need to have your NHS number with you to do this. “The pharmacy, be that Boots or Jhoots, is an independent business which just happens to be in the same building as us – the Practice was not involved in this process, nor has any influence over it. Any concerns or compliments about the pharmacy service should be directed to the pharmacy.”
It is understood that staff members affected by the closure will be offered alternative roles.

This is the worst pharmacy on the Isle of Wight.Staff are miserable and rude and they give the slowest customer service ever! I hope they get new enthusiastic staff members.Who can give a service with a smile.
Probably because the owner is basically a crook who regularly fails to pay the staff. The takeover of the Lloyds pharmacy in East Cowes by JHoots was a chaotic farce with noone even knowing if they still had a job to go to. I pity the staff who have to work for this outfit.
Different uniform, same staff. It’ll be the same service.
Hopefully it will be better than the one at East Cowes Medical Centre. The transfer there took weeks and they never seem to have the drugs in stock and the retail element always looks half empty.
That’ll be because Jhoots aren’t good at paying their bills on time…..
Quick dive on Jhooty’s…own 40 pharmacies now, all have charges against them meaning this is money owed to banks. In other words, speculation, or for want of better more accurate words…disaster capitalism. Jacob Rees Mogg and his dad would be so proud. Basically it’s gamble that more and more people will need to rely on pharmacies in the absence of medical care. NOW argue that the NHS isn’t being systematically and deliberately de-funded. Why? Because profit rules, lives don’t matter. They’ve got you by the balls. Jhooty’s is British owed, Boots is American.
Perhaps having daily boats discharging their contents here have finally broken the delicate balance of those paying for the NHS services to those just ‘taking’ from it, never paying in nor their relatives left in warmer climes.
Seems odd that until we had such massive arrivals, the NHS, housing, and feeding the nation was all do able, if only just.
These arrivals are the last straw, and the tax payers are the Donkey.
Seems Boots are in Cahoots with Jhoots over this deal.
Over a million LEGAL immigrants moved here last year to fill jobs (that’s right, they pay taxes) because there are so many NEET (not in employment education or training) Brits, a large proportion of them boomers taking early retirement, that businesses can’t get professional staff any other way.
But you keep bleating about a mere 30,000 asylum seekers because you have been suckered to believe they are the issue.
Wake up. You are being conned.
Best of luck with that the one in Ryde by Esplanade surgery is never open on a Saturday, promotes Boots delivery pharmacy and never has enough medications in to fill prescriptions!
I read recently the owner of Jhoots was a Tory donor, says it all.
