HM Coastguard and Police are responding to reports of a person in the water at Ventnor this afternoon (Sunday).
Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team have deployed officers down onto the rocks below La Falaise car park, alongside a number of Police Officers.
Resources were already in the area as part of an ongoing missing person search.
The alarm was raised by members of the public at around 13:50.
UPDATE @ 14:40 – Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat is now on scene and is standing by just off the coast.
Police and HM Coastguard remain in attendance.
UPDATE @ 16:30 – Sadly, the body of a woman has been recovered from the sea at Ventnor this afternoon. The body is believed to be that of missing Jennifer Key.
