A person has taken up position on the roof of a building at St Mary’s Hospital in Newport this evening (Tuesday).
The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have been mobilised to the scene to rescue a person from height. 2 appliances and an aerial ladder platform have turned out.
Island Echo understands that a patient has managed to gain access to the roof.
Police are also on the scene having been alerted to the situation as just gone 17:00.
UPDATE – The incident was brought to a close following a swift and safe conclusion shortly before 18:00.
A woman was helped down from the roof by firefighters using a triple extension ladder.
