The male driver of a Vauxhall Zafira is being checked over by paramedics following a car crash on Racecourse Roundabout this morning (Saturday).
Emergency services were called to the busy section of road between Ryde and Newport at around 08:15, following reports of a single vehicle collision.
It appears the Vauxhall left the road and collided with street furniture on the Racecourse/Fairlee Road exit of the roundabout.
The driver, believed to be an older male, is being assessed by paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.

The best street furniture IW Council could install
are speed camera’s.
Most Councils on the mainland have such devices.
Yes a d he would have taken them out also.
Time you got a hobby, take up sky diving.
I prefer watching uneducated B’stards speeding
around the island, better than watching the island
boat race.
Lol
Actually, they don’t. Speed cameras belong to one of three bodies, the local police force, the local Police and Crime Commissioner or the National Highways. They don’t belong to the local authority.
Well all these bodies are employed by the Government,
so let’s hope between them they STOP speeding
on the island.
