A pair of seaside chalets in Gurnard near Cowes could be demolished, paving the way for a 2-bedroom house.
Mr and Mrs Huxford have lodged a planning application to demolish 15 and 16 Marsh Road in Gurnard – Number 15 being in a ‘very poor state of repair’ – according to a submitted Planning Statement.
The Huxfords’ proposal includes the construction of a new home, classed as market housing, at the application site looking onto the Solent.
Plans show the building, raised 1.3m above the ground with supporting columns, would have 2 bedrooms, a bathroom and a kitchen/living area.
It would also comprise a small, decked area and 2 existing parking spaces. The Planning Statement notes.
“There has been a significant change in the style and type of properties that have been built along Marsh Road and this proposal continues the pattern of re-development.
“The open rear (north) grassed aspect will be retained and the design and materials used will sit comfortably within the new emerging street scene and its coastal setting.”
County Hall’s public consultation on the application finishes on 7th May and a decision is due on 27th May.
The chalets suit the scene, why ruin such a location,
best to move to another house.
This area is charming because of the assortment of chalets and huts. Please don’t allow it to be destroyed and covered with boring houses. Just move house.
