From New Jersey to Newport – the Hip-Hop group famously known for ‘Rappers Delight’ will be performing at Strings, at what is to be one of the gigs of the year.
The past 12 months at Strings Bar & Venue have seen an increase top names from the national and international circuit. This is set to continue with the recent announcement of American rap legends The Sugarhill Gang, who will perform at the venue on Friday 15 August.
Their song ‘Rappers Delight’ was the first commercial rap record ever made and later went on to become the largest selling 12” single of all time with over 15 Million Records sold.
Tickets are anticipated to sell out quickly, so those wanting to be there will need to ready when they go on sale at 10:00 this morning (Friday 28th March).
A spokesperson for Strings has said:
“It is incredible that we are able to attract these musical icons to the island. Everyone is familiar with their hit track and it will be amazing to hear that live along with their other classics”
“We’ve had a few events recently such as Tom Meighan and Newton Faulker that sold out in a matter of hours – this is likely to be the same”.
