Police are looking to reassure the public after a cyclist was taken to the hospital following a serious crash yesterday afternoon.
Officers were called at 14:34 to reports that a woman had fallen off her bicycle near the junction with Ridget Lane on Military Road.
The woman, who is in her 20s, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
As previously reported by Island Echo, it was unclear whether a vehicle had been involved in the incident, with many members of the public debating the safety of yesterday’s Cannon Run, a luxury driving holiday.
The event, hosted by local establishments Grange Motors and Isle of Wight Pearl, saw a fleet of supercars race along the road.
A Police spokeperson has confirmed that no vehicles were involved.

How do we know that “many members of the public debating the safety of yesterday’s Cannon Run, a luxury driving holiday”?
Who were they and where did the research take place?
Why are the same “members of the public” not debating the safety (or lack thereof) of these lycra louts who truly believe they OWN the roads when they have their own cycle tracks maintained at great expense by the Council Tax Payers.
Members of the public should have a drive through trendy Ventnor as I have done recently on several occasions and see the idiot Parent who has “modified” his bicycle to have a dual “seat” behind him where his two CHILDREN aged between 2 & 5 are subjected to the inherent danger of such a modification, which is tantamount to child abuse.
Island Roads are not cycle friendly and too be honest the way
cyclists cycle, they are not road friendly.
I have seen many numpties cycling with young children in
modified contraptions on the island, should be against the law.
But there is no law on island Roads.
Oh, was that the ‘supercars’ two of which I saw turn LEFT at the Fairlee traffic lights onto the slipway to the dual after having looked up at the ‘no left turn’ sign and deciding that, well, they had supercars and entitlement so of course they could!
Give me cyclists any day…they are unlikely to kill anyone.
Hope the woman’s ok.
Islandwide CCTV and speed cameras would help.
