A £1,000 donation has been handed to The Haven by members of Nettlestone and Seaview Shed, helping support the transformation of a 6.5-acre field on the edge of Nettlestone into a community outdoor space.
Shed members presented the cheque to trustees of The Haven in August, with the money set to support work required at the site.
The Haven is a community-led project based on recently acquired land which aims to provide somewhere for local people to spend time outdoors, reconnect with nature and spend time together across generations.
Having worked to secure the site for community use, those behind the project now face further work to manage the land, repair existing buildings and create new spaces.
Members of Nettlestone and Seaview Shed have been involved with the project for some time and decided it was a worthy local cause to support financially.
Their contribution will go beyond the £1,000 donation, with Shed members also offering their skills and expertise to help with the various renovation and repair jobs required on buildings at the site.
The money donated by the Shed has been raised through donations received in return for original, hand-crafted wooden gifts and products made by members and offered at local events.
These donations help maintain and run the Shed, while excess funds have enabled members to make donations to other local causes in recent years.
