Hovertravel will not be dropping the price of their season tickets despite cutting their 15 minute cross-Solent service, it has been confirmed.
Commuters have been hit hard by this week’s announcement that the operator has scrapped its 15-minute timetable during peak morning and evening periods. Instead, it will now run a 30-minute service and hourly at other times of the day.
It comes as a result of the troublesome time the company has been having with both Solent Flyer and Island Flyer. Hovertravel are now running a 1-craft operation, with the second craft acting as a backup.
Many have taken to social media to express their anger at the situation and have asked whether or not there will be a price reduction, as they feel there has been a reduction in service. But there is bad news for commuters… Hovertravel’s Managing Director, Neil Chapman, has confirmed that they will not be reducing the price of their season tickets.
Mr Chapman has quite simply said:
“Customers now have the information to choose the route which best suits their individual plans”.
A 12 month season ticket will set you back £1,800 when travelling via Hovertravel – £1,740 if paid upfront. The alternative route, Wightlink’s Fastcat, is £1,795 – or £1,725 when paid upfront.
