Young equestrians from Niton Primary School have trotted away with top honours after taking 1st place at this year’s Island Interschools Show Jumping competition.
The event, held at Little Kennerley Farm on 3rd July, saw 12 primary schools compete for the coveted trophy – but it was Niton’s talented team who rode to victory with clear rounds and quick times.
Year 4 pupils Ivy Brown and Darcy Loggin, along with Year 5’s Poppy Willis, each delivered impressive individual performances alongside their trusty ponies Jack, Lizzie and Mouse. For Darcy and Poppy, it was an extra special milestone, marking their first unled schools show jumping competition.
Among the standout results:
• Darcy Loggin – 4th place in the 9–12” class (13 riders)
• Poppy Willis – 5th in the same class
• Ivy Brown – 5th in the 18”–2’ class (10 riders)
The combined results, judged on speed and precision, secured Niton Primary the overall top spot.
The day concluded with a celebratory rosette presentation and a lap of honour.
