Emergency services are in attendance at Brading Downs this morning (Monday), where a car has left the road and crashed into a field.
The single vehicle incident has occurred at the highest point of the road between Brading and Knighton.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service are checking over the occupants of the white Nissan Juke.
It’s understood the car was travelling towards Newport when it careered across the road, through a hedge and into the field – setting off the vehicle’s airbags.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were mobilised to the scene but have since stood down from the incident.
The road remains open in both directions with Police in attendance.
UPDATE @ 12:20 – It has been confirmed that a woman in her 40s has suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash.
UPDATE – Island Echo is told that the driver hit thick mud on the road and lost control of the vehicle.
Both she and her dog sustained minor injuries in the crash.

Why so many car crashes these last few weeks? Is it because everyone’s running round like headless chickens for fear of next lock down?
Christmas, either drink driving or racing to the shops because they have been brainwashed to spend spend and spend more before the 24th.
Phone, drugs, drink, speeding, or a geunuine mechanical fault or medical issue?
No Dirk, it is because they keep looking at mobile phone !!
Why so many emergency services, surely 1st on scene can stop others coming, saving fuel, time, ect
Way too many to be just a fault! This one probably on phone or applying lippy
Was behind some your girl going down too coppins ,could see her long fake eylashes in her mirror pretty much looking up n down whilst on phone.so obv.she wasnt keeping her traffic flow as poor attention too it!
Pull over or wait fools.thats yet another accident wsiting too happen.sadly its a common site out there
What is happening on the Island, this seems to be a very common occurrence of late. Really worrying!
It’s a ‘free for all’ on the roads, that’s what’s happening! It seems that people can do whatever they like, they know they’ll get away with it.
Ban these awful cars, there’s no way they should be allowed. Oh wait, isn’t that what people are saying about the e scooters? It’s not the vehicle, it’s the clown in control. Ban the driver for 6 months and make it compulsory that they retake a test.
I think we will see a statement soon from the driver blaming the car.
Or upset the icecream van was not there….
Probably will say swerved to avoid an animal. Probably a moose ,Quite common up there . It is getting out of hand all these accidents.
another middle age driver and NOT a old driver
The article says this was a single vehicle incident, so it does beg the question, what was this 40 something year old woman doing immediately before crashing into the field….?
They’d just come from a careers advice meeting.
Don’t want to jump to any conclusions, but I’ll stick my neck out and say ‘speeding’ was most likely the reason. What does everyone else think?
Everyone else is the same as you. Jumping to conclusions without having a clue.
Inadvertently admiring the view. Can’t help it there. Doesn’t take much to lose concentration and at 4-50mph you’ve in a field.
Thick mud on the road, coursing the car to leave the road?….then why was she the only one that lost control????
