A recent Ofsted inspection at Newport CofE Primary School has shown the school’s improvement plan is ‘coherent and well judged’ and that senior leaders are very clear on how to move the school forward to becoming a ‘good’ school.
The report highlights and improvement in the quality of teaching and how ‘teachers respond knowledgeably to pupils during lessons, reshape activities and move learning on with increased confidence and consistency’.
Headteacher Jacquelyn Pick is particularly pleased with the positive flavour of the report, which reflects the hard work of staff this term. The school have introduced new learning values initially of resilience and teamwork and the Ofsted Inspector recognised the noticeable improvement in pupil’s attitudes to learning.
The visit from Her Majesty’s Inspector, carried out at the beginning of this month, was the first monitoring inspection since the school was judged to require improvement in April of this year.
Chair of Governors Simon Richards said:
“This report is acknowledgement of the continuous improvement in the school through the hard work and dedication of everyone involved – children, staff, parents and governors. We continue to be clear about what needs to be done to ensure that every child in our school achieves their very best in everything they do.”
