The challenge began at 04:00 on 30th April and continued throughout the night before ending on Friday afternoon, with students and staff gathering to cheer him over the finish line.
Mr Rock undertook the challenge to raise awareness and funds for Huntington’s Disease Association – a cause that is deeply personal to him and his family.
He lost his father to Huntington’s disease, and both he and his brother have tested positive for the condition and are symptomatic.
Despite the physical and emotional demands of the challenge, Mr Rock showed remarkable determination throughout. One of the toughest moments came at around 01:00 when he seriously considered giving up.
However, supported by those around him and determined to complete the challenge, he carried on to finish the full 100 miles.
Students from Medina College and a number of Isle of Wight primary and secondary schools joined sections of the challenge to help raise awareness of Huntington’s Disease among young people across the Island.
The school community also held a non-uniform day using the charity’s pink and green colours in support of the fundraising effort.
So far, the challenge has raised an impressive £5,500 through online donations and school fundraising activities.
Special thanks have also been given to Biltmore Printers for donating a custom congratulatory banner for the finish line celebrations.
Schools supporting the challenge included Cowes Enterprise College, The Bay CE School, LIFT Schools, Summerfields Primary School, Newchurch Primary School, Nettlestone Primary School, Gatten and Lake Primary School, Greenmount Primary School and Queensgate Foundation Primary School.
