Ryde’s Mountain Warehouse store is to close its doors for the final time at the end of the month. As previously reported by Island Echo, closing-down signs were erected and a subsequent sale launched in November last year. It was anticipated that the store would close before the end of 2023, but the doors were kept open into 2024. It has now been confirmed the Ryde branch is to close for the final time on Saturday 30th March. Mountain Warehouse took on the prominent premises opposite Costa Coffee back in 2018 after it had sat empty for around 8 years, previously trading as discount store Beamans and then Quids In. Last year the Newport branch moved from High Street to the former Co-op site on South Street.

A sad loss for Ryde, and likely just another charity shop, or, worse still, a few flats filled with undesirables, skulking around in doorways, doing deals on phone, and never working as kept by the state and ‘invisible’ income.
A changing world, and much not for the better imo.
Love the positivity…
Yes the truth is hard to accept, because it is rare to hear it now. Yet if you have eyes and ears, use them.
I do, I just like to look at the positive as well as the negative, it’s called a balanced view but I understand that is an alien concept to you.
Sadly another one bites the dust
Stop taxing highstreet business like it’s the 90’s (business rates) and stop taxing people to visit town (rediculous parking charges) and maybe… just maybe, the highstreet would stand a chance.
