Roadworks at Horsebridge Hill, that have blighted motorists’ journeys to and from Cowes for several weeks, are now over with the road reopened in both directions this morning (Saturday).
Carriageway widening works for the new Three Oaks housing development have resulted in a one-way system out of Cowes for more than 6 weeks, meaning a lengthy diversion for those heading into Cowes via Forest Road and Porchfield.
Last weekend the road was closed in both directions, which led to 2 hour delays. The road was meant to be closed in its entirety this weekend too.
However, works have been completed slightly earlier than anticipated with Horsebridge Hill reopening to all traffic, in both directions, at just before 06:00.
Although there are some pavement works to be completed, this is not expected to impact travel in and out of Cowes with no further closures or diversions planned.
A temporary 30mph speed limit remains in force in the vicinity.
The scheme has been shrouded in controversy, from the initial communications around the project to land ownership.
Now what are some gonna moan about.
Numpty’s speeding and tailgating.
Enough is Enough will be along soon
For those that understand the construction of a highway ( road) they have done well. Most just see black top with white lines. If it was that simple it would be great, but it’s not so. It’s what you don’t see that take time.
Think of you home. The footings you don’t see but are critical. You see 4 walls only. But how does the lights turn on, how does the water get to your taps, where does the sewage go!!
It’s all hidden, but you need it in place to work.
Well done to all involved. I, for one understand what’s involved. Some others, should get educated before opening their mouths. .
Most sensible observation for months on this publication.Well done Tiger.
So glad that is completed. Well done to all the people who worked hard to complete it early
Just in time for the Classic Cars at the Agricultual show Ground Sunday.
Can’t wait to see the classic cars.
I love the way they make it sound like they have done
motorists a favour
Lol
Speed limit 30mph, that’s a laugh, majority of island
motorists do 30+ just when they are reversing
Keep dreaming on that one.
20mph is plenty, that only applies in sensible parts of the
country who enforce 20mph, not just place a sign no one
even looks at.
Speed Camera’s are what makes motorists stick to the rules.
Enough already!
I am only stating the truth, drive along any road
and if you don’t see a vehicle breaking the law
I suggest a visit to Specsavers.
Enough is enough, you seem very keen to run down islanders/island motorists. Are you aware there’s a boats most days that could take you back to the dark side, if your struggling to cover the cost, let me know & I’ll be happy to cover a one way journey back to you beloved big island. Twat!
Obviously you are a blinkered Caulkhead who thinks
speeding, jumping red lights and not giving way at
roundabouts is the norm.
It might be the norm on the island, but not what you call
the norm on the dark side where motorists respect one
one and other.
Keeping speeding
Lol
He’d still moan from afar. He’s ill
I just like to see motorists respect other
motorists.
It is people like you who seem to encourage
bad driving.
Shame on you.
Early, my foot! We all know they always allow extra time, so that when they finish actually on time, it looks as if they’ve done us all a great favour. A far better solution would have been no road works, no disruption and no overdevelopment.
I remember a giant sinkhole in the middle of a Japanese city (with sewage and mains links broken) was filled and a new road restored in just one week. Compared to that this job was tiny. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Zty_4MUm3g
I saw the same story, lucky to get a small pothole
filled in a week, it takes them a week to get the
Tarmac
Lol
Have you noticed the 2 within 12 feet walk ways across the road? so double lights going up then? that’s going to be fun in busy traffic…
