A motorcyclist is being checked over by paramedics as a result of a collision with a car in Newport this evening (Friday).
A small-engined motorcycle has gone under the front of a Mazda 5, injuring the motorcycle rider.
The incident, which occurred shortly before 18:55, has taken place on Foxes Road, at the junction with Mill Street.
Police are on scene alongside the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, which has 1 paramedic crew in attendance.
Access towards Dairy Crest Drive from Sainsbury’s is currently blocked.
Hope the cyclist is ok? X
If your going to comment by looking at the picture then don’t forget that the motorcycle is on the wrong side of the road!
Rider was clearly turning right in to the junction and the car driver pulled out with out taking a proper look (why the bikes on that side of the road of the junction and position of the car)… glad the riders not seriously hurt… prob got the response “sorry, I didn’t see you mate”… Many car drivers just dont look or fail to look properly, they just spin their head with out giving their brain time to register and see what they WANT to see/not what’s really there !
What you talking about idi_t
You can’t tell that. Where vehicles end up can miss represent how it happened. Possible the bike got turned around in the collision.
It looks like the car pulled out in front of the bike, the car driver simply didn’t look properly in this instance. Maybe the bike was going to fast as well, who knows.
“going too fast” – There is a public bench on the raised footway in Carisbrooke Road, Newport. I invite the Chief Constable, the Police and Crime Commissioner, the newly appointed IW Police Superintendent, local Councillors and any members of the public to sit on that bench for an hour or so at, just about, any hour of the day.
You will witness a staggering proportion of drivers, mostly boy-racers, in cars with modified exhausts, vans, trucks and motorcycles accelerating hard and belting up and down the road at considerable speed, some whilst speaking or texting (whilst stationary) on mobile phones.
No dedicated Roads Policing Unit = Anarchy
Who knows? All the commentators here lol
Sad to see this happen so often at junctions 🙁
Looks to be one of the few legal bikes on the road.
So many have no L plates, loud exhausts and a number plate pointing up so you can’t read it. These are the ones driven by idiots who think the road is a raceway. Just as their car driving mates do. I expect to see a few show up here under a car or bus.
More bad driving on the iow
