Emergency services are attending a road traffic collision between a car and a motorcycle on Ashey Road on the outskirts of Ryde this evening (Tuesday).
A Skoda Octavia estate and a motorcycle have been involved in the crash at the junction of Green Lane.
The motorcyclist is complaining of leg injuries as a result of the collision, which occurred at just before 17:25.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service is now on scene with a paramedic crew. Police are also in attendance.
Ashey Road remains open in both directions with some delays.
A broken down coach in nearby Brading High Street is also causing delays for anyone avoiding the crash scene.
At this rate, island residents insurance cost will become the highest rates in the country, it’s becoming ridiculous and something needs to be done about island drivers….however, i think they can’t be educated to drive safely..come-on island police, start nicking the idiots..
I agree, too many stupid road users… not driving with due care and attention…. hopefully the perpetuator of this accident gets banned for at least 2 years and fined heavily…
Start upping the fines and bans, this MIGHT make road users open there eyes and THINK..
It’s not just island drivers is it
I expect the car driver was a member of what i call the flash happy group, you know the one ones i mean you can be driving along a main highway and someone will be trying to get out a GIVEWAY on the other side and amember of the flash happy flashes that person out and brings everything to a standstill. But prior to doing so didnt look in the mirror to see waht was going on behind them .Driving over here is the worst in the country. Indicators dont work either
Good point. From what I’ve seen on the roads here, many people don’t use mirrors. The amount of people i see driving around with mirrors folded in, then the ones that fling open car doors when they’re parked, as you’re about to pass them, or worse still, when you’re actually passing them. Indicators, well that’s another subject…! Driving standards here are absolutely dreadful and quite frankly, just seem to get worse almost by the day. Anyway, I wish the motorcyclist a speedy recovery.
As I have posted here before. ALL licences should only last 10 years. Then they would need to re do the complete test, and pay for it..
That way ALL people would learn about all the new laws, signs etc that seem to be changing lately. The government would make money and the roads should become a little safer
The Island seems to attract the thickest people in the country to come and live here.
Stopping to let a vehicle out is supposed to be against the law, as you would then be causing an obstruction to vehicles behind… where in Highway code does it say to ‘ flash lights ‘ and no where does it say to stop traffic, to let someone out.. Stupid drivers..
Yes but there’s no need to be ignorant is there
The use of a roundabout, just because you are approaching said roundabout from someones right does not mean you have automatic right of way whilst 200 yards away!
And all you flaming idiots that insist on signalling left to go straight on, go read the highway code!! Island drivers, stinking attitude and lack of ability.
The accident was no where near the ( closed for weeks ) roundabout.
Stinking ability to read a post…lack of ability?
Slippery Jim, a bit triggered by my observation of isand driving?
Calm down and read the highway code.
I rang DVLA today to see if the IOW editon of the Highway code has been published yet. I mentioned the flash happy group to see if it was mentioned.
