A minor road traffic collision between a Southern Vectis bus and a Fiat 500 on a junction in Ryde is causing traffic delays this morning (Monday). A duo of Police vehicles were called to the scene at the junction with Cross Street and George Street at around 10:50, following reports of a crash between a bus and a Fiat 500. The incident has seen the Italian motor collide with the bus as it emerged from Melville Street. The route 8 was proceeding up George Street towards Ryde Library where a large group of passengers were waiting for pick up. Damage to the Fiat is very minor, with just the front right headlight and wing damaged. The Southern Vectis bus has sustained no damage at all. Island Echo understands that 2 bus passengers have sustained minor injuries. The involved vehicles have been moved from the middle of the road, with traffic flow almost back to normal. Those who were waiting for the bus are currently awaiting the next route 8 bus.

Just sit and lay gaze upon that lane positioning. Drugs, alcohol or age related issues I say. The other day, coming around a gentle bend, a little old ladys car was sat an entire car length from the giveway on the inside edge of the bend, terrifying.
The banner on the bus and its positioning seems almost too good to be real.
Given where the bits of car are on the road, I’d doubt it. Looks to me like the driver of the white car has backed up into the road after the accident, which they possibly had to do so the bus driver could exit the door.

Seems like another driver who doesn’t know what double dotted lines mean, the bus was coming up George street and had right of way, similar thing nearly happened to me the other day when a brain dead young chav in his noise machine tried to cut across in front of me.
As well as the double dotted lines, is there a GIVE WAY sign at the junction visible from Melville Street?
Why police? no one injured another crash they don’t turn up as no one injured..
