A 4×4 stuck on the beach at Bembridge had to be pulled clear by a tractor earlier this evening (Monday).
With the tide flooding, efforts got underway at around 17:30 to pull the Mercedes off the sands near the entrance to Bembridge Harbour.
Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team was tasked to attend the scene to ensure the safety of those involved, whilst making sure no other persons or vehicle were in difficulty.
Once on scene it was established by Coastguards that the 4×4 had been badly damaged, but had been pulled clear of the beach.
The uninjured owner has arranged recovery of the vehicle.

Too lazy to walk to beach?
Some people are just born stupid
Why are we supposed to care? This is not news
Worst Mercedes advert ever.
How I laughed at the idiocy of the driver. As someone else said so damn lazy couldn’t even walk to the beach. Mercedes New Range of 4×4 Boat Cars. hahaha.
Bit like the floating bridge!!!!!!
It didn’t float!!!!!!!!
Wrong tyres, wrong weather conditions, wrong brain, should have gone to specsavers…
Perhaps the driver should go over to France to help the boat people, they wouldn’t get far..
I remember walking between Silver Sands beach & the Bembridge Lifeboat Station years ago & witnessing a HMCG vehicle attempting to drive between the two points. We stood & watched to see how long it would take for the vehicle to succumb to the same unstable ground.
Not long was the answer!!!!!
The vehicles occupants couldn’t hide their embarrassment. Stuck fast with an incoming tide & one would guess now declared as Out Of Action!
I seem to remember the entire team turning out to help haul it & it’s red faced driver from its sticky situation, with many calls of stupidity coming from all involved & spectating !!!
Probably got fed up with waiting for the cancelled broke down delayed ferry and decided to give it a go
Not the cars fault.
More like stupid is as stupid does.
When your tyres are close to the legal limit what do you expect.
At taxpayers expense…
