2 Isle of Wight men have appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court this lunchtime (Thursday) charged with possessing a harpoon and chainsaw during an incident in Oakfield earlier this week.
As previously reported by Island Echo, Police received reports at 22:57 on Monday 3rd May of a disturbance in the street at Oak Vale involving a group of 5 men.
It is alleged that 25-year-old Cameron Wayne Baker and 27-year-old Connor Anthony Pattrick were part of the group that exited a vehicle armed with weapons – namely a harpoon and a chainsaw.
Mr Baker entered no plea for the offences of affray, possession of an offensive weapon (a harpoon), possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and possession of Class A drugs.
Mr Pattrick also entered no plea for the offences of affray and possession of an offensive weapon (chainsaw), but pleaded guilty to possession of an electrical incapacitation device (stun gun) and failing to provide.
The case has been adjourned to the Isle of Wight Crown Court.

The island, or anywhere doesn’t need dregs like this. Shame they couldn’t be ‘exported’ somewhere far, far away.
I am so glad to get out of that area scums in that area they are toxic down oakvale
This is extremely serious
Only a long custodial sentence is appropriate
Report all drug dealers and give the Police your support.
This behaviour and total disregard for the law and public safety is just not acceptable.
These weapons are both murder weapons and a stun gun is illegal and dangerous
These men are out of control.
Could have had a good reason being at the coast maybe he was going whaling.
Scum of the earth. Lengthy prison sentences required.
Sadly, the courts will not support the Police by giving harsh sentences that are deserved in cases like this. Ryde is truly becoming a horrible place to live.
It goes on everywhere not just Ryde
