Medina Community Choir is celebrating its 20th anniversary this summer with a series of Island concerts and a return to France.
Founded in 2006 by Isle of Wight Community Champion Hannah Brear, the choir has grown from modest beginnings into one of the Island’s most vibrant community music groups.
Bringing together singers of all ages and backgrounds, Medina Community Choir has built a reputation for musical excellence, community spirit and memorable performances over the past 2 decades.
To mark its milestone anniversary, the choir will stage 2 ‘Celebrating 20 Years’ concerts featuring an uplifting and varied programme of favourites.
Audiences can expect everything from classical works by composers including Eric Whitacre and John Rutter, to iconic songs from stage and screen, alongside rock and pop hits from Queen, Madonna, Lionel Richie and Toto.
The concerts will take place at The Minster in Newport on Saturday 4th July and at St Mary’s Church in Cowes on Saturday 11th July, both starting at 19:00.
Later in the summer, the choir will embark on its 8th tour to France, where members will sing in 3 cathedrals in Paris.
The overseas trip continues a proud tradition of international performances, with the choir having previously sung at venues including Carnegie Hall in New York and Le Mans Cathedral in France.
Before departing, Medina Community Choir will present a special pre-tour ‘Gospel Gold’ concert at St Mary’s Church in Cowes on Saturday 25th July at 19:00, promising an evening of inspiring music and infectious energy.
Over the years, the choir has raised thousands of pounds for local charities while providing a welcoming environment and musical platform for singers across the Isle of Wight.
Tickets for all concerts are available at mcctickets.co.uk, with booking advised.
