Do you recognise the man in this picture?
Police want to identify him as part of an investigation into an assault that took place in Ryde in the early hours of Sunday 15th August.
As previously reported by Island Echo, officers were called to Union Street in the early hours following the assault, which left the teenager with serious injuries.
Officers say that shortly after 02.05, the 16-year-old boy was approached by a man unknown to him on the corner of Union Street and Cross Street, outside of the Yorkshire Building Society.
He was then assaulted causing injuries to his jaw. He was transported to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth for treatment and has since been discharged.
Officers would like to speak to the man pictured, wearing a white T-shirt, full sleeve tattoo on his right arm and tattoos on his left arm.

I should think someone will recognise him, but why are so many cctv images of such poor quality ?
Because CCTV records continuously. In order to get quantity, quality has to be sacrificed. If the camera was 1080p it would need gb’s if hard disk space every day. By dropping the quality, a continuous feed can be stored. Also of course, people don’t upgrade their CCTV a lot so the technology is probably a few years old.
The camera is too far away and at the wrong angle, the image has been zoomed in. We should be required to record with our phones at all times. That way the government can spend less of our tax money on us and removed more police. CCTV not needed when our tax is spent on us and a copper on the beat!

Can they? About time too. I was working a full time job at 15. I’ve worked with many 16 year olds out of school in hard manual work. Most were dam good hard workers.
Initial reaction is yes they shouldn’t pick on kids and of course that’s right however last night some drunk and abusive boys if a similar age were violently abusive to teen trans girls all on their own be just because they dressed alternatively. It scared my friend. Nobody should be behaving like this to anyone should they

What I’m not getting is, why was a 16 yo youth out in the streets at that hour in the first place? Only half a story here, what provoked an attack?
He wasnt randomly attacked.
