There have been no cats up trees for the firefighters of Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service today, but they have rescued a man trapped on his Juliet balcony.
1 appliance from Ryde was mobilised to Solent Court on the Esplanade at around 17:00 when fire control were alerted to the rather unusual situation.
The resident of one of the flats had become trapped on his tiny 1st floor balcony overlooking the seafront.
Unable to get back inside the property or climb down into the garden below, he was left no option but to call for the fire service.
Firefighters used an extension ladder and assisted the casualty to safety before then erecting the ladder up to another window to help the man get back into his flat.
Looks as though he could have easily have lowered himself over the edge and eased himself to the ground.
Yes but that would have required intelligence, and a little effort. Far easier to give it to someone else to deal with for him than actually to use the former attributes, clearly in short supply here.
Or flapped his arms like a bird? If he tried as you suggested he would probably have hurt himself then had to phone an ambulance as well!!!!!
Depends how old they are. In the 70’s then possibly not. All too easy to break something.
What a melt he could have easily lowered himself down. And how would you become stuck them doors don’t lock themselves.
Ho romeo, ho romeo, where for heart though…
Are they sure it was HIS flat!!
Had the husband just come back early?
How did he get locked out ! Or was he trying to get in!
