A man in his 30s is being treated in hospital for head and leg injuries sustained when he was hit by a car in Cowes early this morning (Thursday).
Police were called at 07:22 to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Ward Avenue.
The casualty, a man in his 30s, was taken to St Mary’s Hospital by land ambulance.
It’s known that a waste collection lorry belonging to Amey was present at the scene, with multiple senior managers called out to Ward Avenue.
Hampshire Constabulary says that enquiries into the exact circumstances of the collision – which includes the involvement of the lorry – are ongoing.
Ward Avenue was closed between Crossfield Avenue and Baring Road for around an hour but has since re-opened.
