A man in his 20s is receiving treatment in hospital after being stabbed in Ventnor late last night (Saturday).
Police were called to a premises on the High Street at 23:05 following a report that a man had been stabbed behind the address, off Pound Lane.
Officers rushed to the scene alongside paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, where they found an injured male with stab wounds – thought to be to his stomach and leg.
Following on scene treatment, he was taken to St Mary’s Hospital with what has been described as superficial stab wounds.
It’s thought the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance was scrambled to the scene but stood down en-route.
Hampshire Constabulary continue to conduct enquiries to establish the exact circumstances of what happened.
No arrests have been made and the search for a suspect continues.

UPDATE WEDNESDAY – A 29-year-old man has been arrested in connection with Saturday night’s incident, it has been confirmed.

I think mrs t is referring to the town of Ventnor kicking up fuss over the use of weedkiller in the town, seeing such as a risk to health, yet is indicating that many many residents there, seem happy to fill their bodies with toxins from tattoos, dope, cocaine, and other drugs.
I guess she is just pointing out the gross hypocrite of a town known for a drug problem fussing over weed killer which is less harmful when used as the council has done for years.

When camera footage of people caught in the very act of committing arson is disregarded by the police, when the Fire Brigade chief officers cry in private at what’s going on .. Things just keep getting worse I have never known anything like it in my whole life on the island . It is not a safe place to live . People coming to live here are going to be disappointed.
Pound Lane – Poundland scumbags more like, there’s always something kicking off down there. Doesn’t take a genius to work out it’s drink/drug related. Former MP Andrew Turner was spot on, certain parts of this otherwise beautiful Island, have turned into ghettos.
If they do find who did it, the police will just say “Not enough evidence as usual” Can’t cause a fiasco in Ventnor can we?” It will put off the tourists. Pity it wasn’t our local “Norfolk” troublemaker. Superficial wounds will heal. I’m sure the locals will sort this out quicker than the police.
It’s not recognised by council though. They seem happy to approve more housing estates on the outskirts of towns, which just exacerbates and widens the ghetto problem.

Maybe the police should search the houses there properly, they might be surprised at what they find, whoever found it would be up for promotion for sure, or maybe not, turn a blind eye and all that. You don’t need to buy the weed, just stand in a shop, wait, and breathe in the fumes from one of the scumbag growers in Ventnor.
Unfortunately for us, society and our children, the Police are disinterested in drug crime, I say this from years of reporting it going on, along with others, with no action taken at all. (we’ve all given up now)
Surely this disregarding of our concerns, makes them at least partly complicit in the growth of these crimes, yet who can prosecute the Police ?

Bring back Borstal . Run by ex army and navy hard men. If the scum bags today think they are tough they’ll be brought back to earth with a tremendous crash. I lived in ventnor for 8 months, met many interesting people. Not one police officer though many burglaries drugs and violence by drug addicts, needles on the toilet floors. Shame as ventnor fringe festival was awesome
