A 29-year-old man has been arrested by Police and is being questioned by detectives 4 days after a stabbing in Ventnor.
As first reported by Island Echo, officers were called to a premises on the High Street at around 23:00 on Saturday (23rd July) following reports that a man had been stabbed behind the address.
The victim, a man in his 20s, was taken to St Mary’s Hospital with superficial stab wounds – believed to be to his stomach and leg.
Hampshire Constabulary has confirmed that a 29-year-old man from Sandown has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He attended Newport Police Station earlier today (Wednesday), where he was arrested by officers investigating Saturday night’s incident.
He remains in custody at this time.

It’s about time life sentences are handed down to people who carry any sort of weapon, let alone use it.
If he did that in Saudi Arabia, they would have cut both of his hands off or his head….we’re far too soft dealing with scum…
I lived in Saudi for a number of years and it isn’t as simple as cutting off hands, Sharia Law can be hard to understand for the “western” mind.
Thanks for your posting, however, I’m not sure of your point, I personally can understand some extreme punishments for those that deserve it., but I was simply saying all the lowlife we have in this country would mostly end if we treated our lowlife like they do in Saudi…
I don’t want a barbaric ideology in our country, I just feel we need to be a little harder on crime..
Why do police keep asking you to dial 101 as they don’t answer,just recorded message and then if not quick enough to press 0 call ends,do police not think that when people might be frightened etc it would be better to answer instead of fob off to send email!. I have had reason to phone Metropolitan Police a number of times and you get to speak to someone in mins , not be messed around so you give up. Sure that 90% must be important so answer please,if not just end the call and go to next.
