A man accused of being responsible for the death of Michaela Logan in a tragic car crash in Arreton more than 2 years ago, has been acquitted.
Appearing at the Isle of Wight Crown Court today (Tuesday) on the 1st day of his trial, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) did not offer any evidence against 20-year-old Mackensie Hallett.
Hallett, of Arundel Road in Ryde, had previously denied causing death by dangerous driving in the incident which led to the death of Miss Logan, in Hale Common, on 10th January 2020.
The 19-year-old of Carisbrooke Road, Newport died in a crash on the A3056 near Arreton when she was driving her Ford Fiesta – and Hallet a Ford Focus.
The judge in the trial formally acquitted Hallett, however, the 20-year-old must still face sentencing for admitting to the lesser offence of dangerous driving.
A date for that hearing has not yet been set.
Hallett remains disqualified from driving in the interim.

CPS should be scrapped, how much did this escapade cost?
(CPS) did not offer any evidence against 20-year-old Mackensie Hallett..WHY???
The 20-year-old must still face sentencing for admitting to the lesser offence of dangerous driving….Did he course the death by dangerous driving or not???.
Are the (CPS) fit for purpose or not?..
Still being prosecuted for dangerous driving tells us everything
Yes, it tells us that when two drivers decide to race another late at night it can end in tragedy.
She drove like a maniac, she went to overtake and hit another car coming the opposite way. Yes it’s sad but if you’re going to drive like a nutter you run the risk.
They where all racing and thought where good drivers but not . its very sad that someone so young lost there life but one of them could of hit someone Innocent that night who had children in the car and it could have been a lot worse because of there stupid game
SHE DID NOT HIT ANOTHER CAR ..!!!!..get it right know all….
What is wrong with CPS and Court’s, not saying he’s guilty, but Police must of had evidence to have suspicions, they then consult with CPS who only now days agree to be charged if likely hood of guilt proven in court. In this case they offered no evidence?????. This young lad has had this hanging over him for two years,if he could of gone back in time and changed this very sad event I’m sure he would. Government needs to look at our justice system, some people get away with lot’s and others blamed for things they haven’t done!
Thanks to 12 years of the tories the whole country is not fit for purpous.
Island Roads are sadly lawless
What has island roads got to do with it, this was caused by senseless driving that sadly cost the young girls life in doing so.
When bad drivers meet. Problem is stuff like this happens, two lives ruined and people still won’t learn
She was driving her car he was driving another he is not responsible for her death they were racing he did not kill her she killed her self
I sometimes wonder if I am dreaming some of these news articles. Admitted to driving dangerously, but denied it was his fault he killed another driver. Come on legal services start earning your money, same for the police and CPS. I just do not know how you sleep at night. I hope her unnecessary death haunts you all, unless you can prove she was also not medically suitable to drive prior to the crash.
He didn’t directly cause her death hence NFA for causing death by dangerous, his offence amounts to dangerous driving the rest he will have to live with for the rest of his life as neither should have been racing yet more youngsters will still come along and think they are invincible and fantastic drivers of which they are neither.
June his car and hers didn’t even collide. She hit an oncoming car.
She did not hit another car …it was a single car incident …
she should have been racing only her self to blame
she shouldn’t have been racing only her self to blame
