A man stood on the cliff edge at Culver Down led to an emergency response from Police, HM Coastguard and the RNLI late last night (Wednesday).
At around 22:30, Hampshire Constabulary received reports from a member of the public of concerns for the welfare of a male located at the East Wight beauty spot overlooking Sandown Bay.
Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team, Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team and Police all responded to the scene, with assistance requested from Bembridge RNLI.
Bembridge’s All Weather and Inshore lifeboats were both launched at around 23:00, however, not long after launching it was reported that the person concerned was in a place of safety and in Police custody.
Leas than an hour after the incident began, all Search and Rescue teams were stood down.
It’s at least the 4th time in the past week that emergency services have been called to Culver Down over concerns for the welfare of individuals.
