Police, fire and ambulance crews have rushed to Chale this afternoon (Friday) where a car has crashed, coming to rest on its roof.
Emergency service personnel were first called to Chale Street just past the junction with Gotten Lane at around 14:30 following reports of a single vehicle collision.
At the scene, the vehicle, a white Audi, has come to rest completely on its roof. It is unclear as to how the road traffic collision has occurred.
Firefighters – from both Newport and Ventnor – are currently braving the elements to extricate the casualty(s) from the vehicle. Using specialist equipment they have removed several doors and the boot lid in attempts to access the casualty.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has sent a single ambulance to scene as well as an Operational Commander.
Chale Street is currently blocked as is expected to remain so for a while.
UPDATE @ 15:45 – A single male occupant has been extricated from the vehicle and conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital.
Maybe driving too fast??? The roads are wet and we’ve not had a lot of rain? Or just cannot drive??
My guess is speeding it takes place everyday
on the island by Numpty’s.
You would have thought being the wet conditions
Numpty’s would slow down
That is the problem when someone lacks
brains, you cannot educate the uneducated.
I agree with you, stupid idiots don’t know how to drive, that bit is 40mph but the corner not 40mph most people can’t stay on their own side of the road, the roads were wet!
No car no more, hope no one was injured, but if you don’t know the road SLOW down!!
Marshcombe Shute is a Death trap with
speeding motorists
I cannot believe whoever on the island have
not put in safety measures around the island.
So many Hotspots / bends need speed humps
installing to make vehicles slow down.
It is obvious unless we make people slow down
they won’t do it themselves.
If I had a pound everytime someone jumped a
Red traffic light I would be rich.
The island lacks traffic law.
Unless driving too fast, how do vehicles end up on
their roof, seems to be common practice on the island.
Are vehicles that are sold on the island made differently
to vehicles on the mainland.
Lol
Bend… oops too fast… quick slam on the brakes and Voila !
So true. I cannot understand why Numpty’s
need to keep speeding, what’s the rush we are on
a very small island, anyone would think they
have some where important to go too!
More crap driving by people who cant drive..well done.
7 doors you say…
8 tyres (4 must be on the roof)
1 less Numpty on our roads
Lol
Not entirely sure how one vehicle can have a collision, unless it either hits another vehicle or some inanimate object such as a tree.
I know how speeding it is rife on the island.
I have been goi g on about speeding for years and
the island is clueless how to STOP speeding.
Nice mixture of drugs, drink and speed, same old!
Need a solution or an effective deterrent otherwise, see you all tomorrow for the same thing.
I guess tomorrow on the Military road!
or Saturday night a crash in Ryde hitting parked cars after a night on the town by some Urk.
We all know by now we cannot trust Numpty motorists
to stick to the rules, therefore the island authorities need
to IMPOSE strict speeding rules etc.
There was me thinking we were out of the car on roof season
It’s only just starting, it’s like vaping
on trend
Lol
