Isle of Wight rock band 5 Degrees North have been announced as one of the finalists in Platform One’s Wight Noize competition.
On Wednesday, 30th April, the band will perform at Strings Bar and Venue where they will compete to perform on the main stage at the 2025 Isle of Wight Festival. They made it to the final in 2024, though were beaten by Marnie Marie.
The trio received the news of their nomination whilst on their way to the Portsmouth Music Awards, where they were up for the Indie/Rock/Alternative Act of the Year category.
Although they didn’t walk away victorious this time, they shared their gratitude towards the people who voted for them.
Speaking about the experience, the band said:
“We were absolutely hounded to be nominated alongside all the other amazing acts at the award ceremony!
“We also want to say a massive thank you to Platform One and the judges at Wight Noize for shortlisting us for a second time.”
5 Degrees North, made up of Louis Marshall on drums, Will Morrison on guitar and Michael Fuller on bass, are one of the rising Isle of Wight rock bands and next month, will cross the Solent to support South Coast indie band Wave Chase. They will take to the stage at Southampton’s Heartbreakers on a bill with fellow Isle of Wight band The Optimists.
Also in the final for the 2025 Wight Noize competition are Ruby, Mikalan, Georgia Nicole and Willowfly.
