Bembridge RNLI’s All Weather and Inshore lifeboats have been in action this evening (Thursday), responding to 2 separate medical emergencies off the east coast of the Isle of Wight.
The Tamar-class All Weather Lifeboat ‘Alfred Albert Williams’ was launched at 17:00 to assess and medivac a passenger from an 8m charter angling vessel who was suffering from potential heat stroke.
The vessel, located in Sandown Bay, was soon reached in very benign.
Having transferred the casualty to the lifeboat, the ALB returned to the Offshore Boathouse, arriving at 17:37, to await the arrival of an ambulance.
In the meantime, the D-Class Inshore Lifeboat ‘Norman Harvey’ was launched at 17:21 to a separate incident involving an 18-year-old male who had become ill whilst onboard his family’s RIB in Priory Bay.
The RIB in question had made its way to close to the Offshore Boathouse where the young male was transferred to the Norman Harvey, which was then recovered to the Inshore Boathouse where an ambulance was waiting.
