This is your weekly round-up of some of the latest court cases heard at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.

• Robert Berry, 34, of West Street, Ventnor – drove under the influence of ketamine in Ventnor – sentenced to a 36-month disqualification, £80 fine, £114 surcharge, and a community order with 30 rehabilitation days. He was also fined £80 for failing to stop when required by a constable, and received a forfeiture order for ketamine in a separate charge. Additionally, he received no separate penalty for resisting a constable.
• Shaun Austin, 33, of Sandown Road, Shanklin – assaulted a man in Sandown – sentenced to a community order with 15 rehabilitation days and nine months of drug treatment, and ordered to pay £100 compensation. He was also sentenced for possessing a locking knife and cannabis in Sandown on the same day, with deprivation of the knife ordered and forfeiture of the drug.
• Maddy Allen-Willsher, 22, of Leigh Road, Eastleigh – sentenced for multiple thefts and breaching a criminal behaviour order between 21–24 November in Ryde and Newport – sentenced to 12 weeks in custody, with several 4-week concurrent terms, and ordered to pay compensation totaling £212.80 and £85 costs. She also received a 4-week concurrent sentence for refusing to provide a Class A drug sample.
• Emma Knight, 21, of Hunnyhill, Newport – sentenced for a series of thefts from TK Maxx between May and August and for assaulting a man in Newport – received a community order with 80 hours of unpaid work and 10 rehabilitation days, and ordered to pay over £470 in compensation across multiple offences. She also received a community order for possession of cannabis, including a forfeiture order for the drug.
• Norton Downer, 48, of Madeira Lane, Freshwater – admitted possessing cocaine and cannabis in Totland – fined £120, ordered to pay £85 costs, and drugs were forfeited and destroyed.
• Eric Chigamani, 41, of Cross Lane, Newport – drove without insurance and was found guilty in absence of exceeding the 40mph limit – fined £660, ordered to pay £400 costs and £264 surcharge, and received 8 penalty points.
• Martyn Shotton, 48, of Sun Hill, Cowes – admitted criminal damage to a police radio and obstructing a constable – ordered to pay £680 compensation and £85 costs, and fined £80.
• Tammy Soper, 42, of Somerset Road, Ryde – drove under the influence of drugs and without a valid MOT – fined £200, disqualified for 36 months, and ordered to pay £85 costs.
• Jason Blake, 38, of Cornwall Road, Ventnor and Malcolm Dyer Court, Newport – sentenced for multiple thefts from Tesco and Co-op, and for assaulting a constable – given a community order with 15 rehabilitation days, ordered to pay £141.75 compensation. He admitted breaching bail conditions twice, but was sentenced on associated cases.
• Rachael Newton, 48, of Landguard Road, Shanklin – assaulted a man in a hotel in Sandown – given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £400 costs and £26 surcharge.
• Lesley Ede, 71, of Webster Way, Newchurch – drove while over the alcohol limit in Sandown – fined £184, disqualified for 20 months (reducible by course), and ordered to pay £159 in costs and surcharge.
• Billy Beeney, 37, of Quarry View, Camp Hill – drove while over the alcohol limit in Newport – fined £650, disqualified for 36 months (reducible by course), and ordered to pay £345 in costs and surcharge.
• Lyam Ringer, 25, of George Street, Ryde – admitted possessing cannabis in Arreton – fined £80, ordered to pay £85 costs, and the drug was forfeited.
• Kenneth Russell, 58, of Gort Road, East Cowes – breached a restraining order by attending a prohibited address in East Cowes – fined £80, ordered to pay £85 costs and £32 surcharge.
• Anthony Harris, 57, of Monkton Street, Ryde – assaulted a man in a pub in Cowes – fined £180, ordered to pay a £114 surcharge, and given a community order with 30 rehabilitation days. He also admitted failing to surrender to custody and received no separate penalty.
• Daniel Muir, 38, of Clarence Road, Newport – used a handheld mobile phone while driving in Binstead – fined £440, received 6 penalty points, and ordered to pay £85 costs and £176 surcharge.
• Alfie Hayles, 19, of Lincoln Close, Bembridge – drove under the influence of cannabis in Newport – disqualified for 12 months, fined £400, and ordered to pay £245 in costs and surcharge.
• Timothy Saunders, 30, of Amherst Place, Ryde – admitted two counts of shop theft with another defendant, involving Tesco and Waitrose stores – sentenced to a community order with 100 hours of unpaid work and 10 rehabilitation days, and ordered to pay a total of £74.39 compensation and £42.50 costs.
• Susannah Hallett, 29, of Amherst Place, Ryde – admitted two counts of theft with another defendant involving Tesco and Waitrose – ordered to pay £74.39 total compensation and £42.50 costs.
• John Duckworth, 51, of Green Street, Ryde – stole alcohol worth £622.50 from Morrisons in Newport – sentenced to 12 weeks’ imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, and ordered to pay £85 costs.
• Ellie Phillips, 20, of Station Street, Ryde – assaulted a man in Ryde – fined £150, and ordered to pay £85 costs and £60 surcharge.
• Stacy Buckett, 38, of Home Meade, Newport – used a mobile phone while driving in Newport – fined £120, received 6 penalty points, and ordered to pay £200 costs and £48 surcharge.
• Thomas Goodier, 28, of HMP Isle of Wight – possessed a mobile phone in prison without authority – sentenced to 12 months’ custody to run concurrently with existing sentence.
• Jacob Reynolds, 25, of St Johns Road, Ryde – assaulted a police officer in Newport – fined £219, ordered to pay £50 compensation and £88 surcharge.
• Emma James, 41, of Wilton Park Road, Shanklin – possessed a kitchen knife in a public place in Ryde – given a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 costs.
