LATE NIGHT CALL OUT FOR SEARCH TEAMS OVER CONCERNS FOR MALE’S WELFARE

Police, HM Coastguard and WightSAR were deployed to Puckpool on the outskirts of Ryde late last night (Sunday) over concerns for the welfare of an missing individual. 

At just before 22:00, the Island’s search and rescue teams were mobilised to assist Police in the search for a high-risk male.

Around 30 or more volunteers from Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team, Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team and Isle of Wight Search & Rescue (WightSAR) were all tasked to the East Wight.

Within 30 minutes of the call out, just as the search teams arrived on scene, the situation had been resolved with the missing person safely located nearby.

All assets were stood down by 22:30.
