KEEGAN BROWN TO STEP UP TO THE OCHE ON TUESDAY IN ROUND 1 OF PDC WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Islander Keegan Brown will face Boris Krcmar in the opening round of the 2023/24 PDC Paddy Power World Championship at the Ally Pally on Tuesday (19th December). The 31-year-old NHS blood lab technician – nicknamed ‘The Needle’ – is hoping to build on the success of this year’s performance at the World Series of Darts when he takes to the oche against Croatia’s 44-year-old Krcmar – ranked 61st in the world. It was back in September that Brown secured a £17,500 prize pot win after reaching the Quarter Finals of the World Series. He defeated Simon Whitlock and reigning champion Gerwyn Price, but it was the World Number 5, Nathan Aspinall, that halted Brown’s progression in the top flight competition. Should Tuesday’s match go his way Keegan will secure £7,500 prize money and progress to Round 2, where he will face Dutch player Dirk Van Duijvenbode – ranked 12th in the world – on Friday 22nd December at 12:30. The 3rd and 4th rounds of the competition will take place between 27th-30th December, with the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final taking place across New Year’s Day, 2nd and 3rd January. All the action is being broadcast on Sky Sports. Keegan Brown is currently ranked 100th in the world.
