It’s usually all eyes to the skies at this time of the year for the traditional November celebrations, but there are just 4 organised fireworks display taking place in 2021.
In years gone by displays have been held in Arreton, Bembridge, Cowes, Newport, Ryde, Sandown, Whitwell, Ventnor and Yarmouth. But for one reason or another, all have been scrapped for 2021 – apart from just 4 small events.
On Friday (5th November), The Spyglass Inn at Ventnor will be putting on their free annual show, which starts at 19:00.
On the other side of the Island, The Royal Victoria Yacht Club at Fishbourne will be holding a bonfire from 18:30, with fireworks all set for 19:00. However, Island Echo is told this is for members and invited guests only.
The Isle of Wight Community Club in Cowes will be hosting their annual fireworks display on Saturday 6th November at 20:00. A family disco will begin an hour earlier, with hot snacks/meals being served in the kitchen from 19:00-21:00.
Finally, The Brunswick Hotel in Shanklin will be hosting a bonfire and fireworks night on Saturday 6th November, between 17:00-18:00. Fireworks start at 17:30 with entry costing £5 per adult, children go free.
Good, we’re burning too much as it is. Time to stop this pyromania celebration. Also so many animals that are not humans get very stressed with all the fireworks.
Unfortunately Fred the lack of organised displays will probably mean hundreds more people than usual doing home displays. Then there will be the usual idiots who stockpile fireworks and carry on letting them off for well over a week *eye roll and sighs* I would rather only proper organised displays were allowed as opposed to night after night of domestic bangs and disruption.
We have a hotel near us that lets them off for nearly two weeks and always at 2300 hrs Shg so late I don’t know just to keep everyone awake I think it’s so antisocial
Due to the lack of displays, we will be holding our own in our cul-de-sac 🙂
The ticket price is wrong. It’s £6 for adults. Please n
There is one advertised at Sandown on the 5th
