Isle of Wight golfer Brandon Robinson-Thompson was paired with Rory McIlroy this morning (14th November) in the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.
Robinson-Thompson earned a place in the season-ending event by taking the final spot in the Race to Dubai standings, following a season that included a third-place finish at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters and fourth at the Turkish Airlines Open.
He opened the tournament with a 67, putting him just a shot off the early lead. His second round proved more difficult, however, as he carded a 74, leaving him tied for 30th at 141 (-3).
Playing alongside McIlroy, a multiple major champion and Race to Dubai frontrunner, gave Robinson-Thompson a high-profile platform. While McIlroy maintained his usual consistency, Robinson-Thompson’s second-round struggles highlighted the challenge of competing at this level.
With two rounds still to play, he remains in a position to improve his final standing. The week in Dubai marks a notable appearance for an Isle of Wight golfer in a major World event.

I think he’s done amazingly well, his first ever world tour. He’s not struggling, he’s learning!!!
Get things done correctly. You highlighted a round where he didn’t play as he wanted. What about the other rounds and that he has kept his card for next year. A real following would be a good idea.
