A minute’s silence will be held across the Isle of Wight – and the rest of the country – at 20:00 on Sunday as a national moment of reflection in memory of Queen Elizabeth II.
Downing Street has announced that the nation will come together following the death of Her Majesty last Thursday on the night before her state funeral.
A spokesperson for the Government has said:
“At 8pm on Sunday September 18, the night before the state funeral, there will be a one-minute silence where the public are invited to come together and observe a national moment of reflection to mourn and reflect on the life and legacy of Queen Elizabeth II.
“The shared national moment of reflection is an opportunity for everyone across the UK to mark the death of Her Majesty and we will set out details of where the Prime Minister will mark it closer to that time.”
The following day, at 11:00, the Queen’s state funeral will be held in London. Several major supermarkets are expected to close for around 4 hours to allow everyone to watch the funeral at home.
