Wight Rally Sport duo Richard Weaver and James Pink will this weekend compete at the Aarova Rally, located in the East Flanders area of Belgium.
4 years has passed since Weaver last competed on Belgian soil, yielding 5th overall and fastest British driver.
The pairing will take the Go Internet-sponsored Mitsubishi Evo 6 for its maiden foreign event and will be supported by a Belgian race team who will maintain the car during be rally.
Richard says:
“It’s going to be interesting to use this car on the Flemish roads for the first time. I’ve have experienced their fast, smooth lanes in my classic Ford Escort several times, but that is quite a different vehicle to drive compared to the Evo. The Evo requires a neat driving style, whereas the escort can be driven in a much more flamboyant fashion!”
Looking ahead, Weaver has cited competing in Southern Ireland for the team’s next challenge…
“I haven’t rallied in Ireland yet, but it is a fantastic country with a huge rally community. We will enjoy Christmas and then plan to head there in 2020.”
