The Isle of Wight Hedgerow Group has announced that the 2026 competition is going ahead after a 2-year break.
The 29th Annual Hedgelaying Competition will be held on 28th February 2026 from 10:00 until 16:00 at Atherfield Farm, by kind permission of Mrs Annie Henton and Mr & Mrs R Chapman.
This is a new site for the competition, so wrap up, put on your wellies and pop along. It’s free to park and free to spectate.
Attractions will include the famous tea tent, with cake, hot food and drinks; Ralph Griffin’s display of billhooks and tools, and the popular running display of static engines and vehicles from Vectis Vintage Tractors and Engines Club.
Entry is free for competitors and spectators – all are welcome.
Organiser Tony Ridd of Landscape Therapy said:
“The 2023 competition was one of the biggest and best we’ve ever done, and we are pleased to be back with another exciting competition in 2025.
“This is an exciting new venue for us, with some fantastic views – and of course a really nice hedge.”
Competitors are asked to submit their entries ASAP to avoid disappointment.

Was it not held at the Steam Railway last year?
