Research conducted by outdoor gear specialists Cotswold Outdoor lists the Isle of Wight as the 7th best county for watersports.
The Island’s accolades as being a best location for an active, fun-filled Summer are owed to its great choice of water sport shops and rentals, its excellent bathing water quality and its multiple highly rated beaches.
The Island ranks 2nd for shops and rentals, boasting 17 per capita and it also ranks just as highly for its bathing quality, scoring a near excellent bathing water score of 2.93 out of 3. Home to 11
beaches in total, the Island is a year-round popular seaside destination.
As for its choice of bodies of water, however, the Island understandably suffers in comparison to its top 10 rivals, offering 4 in total, all of which have a collective rating of 4.5.
Placing 38th, the Isle of Wight ranks the lowest for its leaner choice of watersport activities.
