A yellow weather warning for ice across the Isle of Wight has been extended by local forecasters IW Met Service.
Islanders are being warned that temperatures will fall to, or below, freezing once again this evening (Tuesday). This will lead to icy conditions in some places due to the continued field run-off water from recent days.
However, things are not expected to be as bad and as widespread as last night, but rural areas will still see a significant ice risk.
Ice sheets and Black Ice on roads and walkways will once again lead to extremely slippery and hazardous driving conditions in places, especially in more rural parts.
The risk of accidents or injuries from slipping on what appears to be wet pavements or walkways, when it is in fact invisible Black Ice, should also be a consideration.
The warning, which ended at 13:00 has now been extended and is in force from 17:00 this evening until 11:00 tomorrow morning (Wednesday).

A wait for the breaking news of muppets having issues or accidents during these conditions. If the road is hazardous then you drive SLOWLY or not at all. Amazes me how so many stupid people can’t follow very simple guidance.

s called these days...... also road tax.... - 54% tax on fuel.... so we should expect our roads to be safe, gritted, also pavements 9not to burden the NHS of course) because we all pay for that if we use or not.s a bit of a pi$$ take that with all the early warnings of ice etc, nothing is done in preparations apart from a few old road signs to cover the ars%s of the council as a warning of the possible impending doom of ice…….. I speak as a Class one driver of 32 years experience driving internationally in Norway, France, Germany, Holland etc etc etc etc etc etc where does all the money go???it
