Adverse weather on the Solent has forced the temporary suspension of Hovertravel services for the 2nd day in a row.
Service on the cross-Solent service have been cancelled until at least 11:00.
Purchased tickets can be used on Wightlink’s Fast Cat service.
An update as to whether service will resume is expected at around 11:00.

A rail tunnel would not need to close because of wind. Could be connected to the current tunnel and pop up in Fareham where there is room. A dedicated shuttle train from Ryde to Fareham. Fixed. And we get to keep the ferries for the old people who want the ‘island’ experience.
We def need something for the future of the Island.
fred – you really haven’t thought it through.
Most of the older generation who are oppose to change will very soon be gone (thankfully), then we can move the Island into the 21st century. Without a solution to the problem of the Solent, the Island will continue to be left behind and the younger generation will continue to leave. We need business opportunities which will benefit everyone.
Pointless writing this on here when you consider the people commenting.
zippy – you aren’t really that bright are you, not to mention ageist.
Oh you mean the crap that you have just sent
Not sure you can say there is no desire by islanders for a fixed link, maybe not everyone but there will be people who would love to have this available
There will never be a fixed link because the expense would be astronomical and unjustifiable. No government would support it and it would be impossible to raise the billions required. It would cost more than the Channel tunnel to build a bridge or tunnel to this pissp*t holiday island. Forget it.
Can’t wait for you to get’old’ Fred, you obviously aren’t allowed without an escourt there were thousand of young families on holiday over the summer and students and middle-aged and mature folks plus IOW festival.
