Hovertravel has been forced to suspend its Ryde-Southsea service this morning (Sunday) due to adverse weather conditions.
Strong winds being experienced by the hovercraft pilots has led to the decision being made to cancel all crossings until further notice.
It comes after a considerably lengthy crossing for the 08:30 from Southsea, which has taken some 40 minutes to cross the Solent. The journey normally takes 10 minutes.
An update is expected by 11:00 but it’s unclear if services are likely to resume at that time.
Tickets are being accepted on Wightlink’s Fastcat service from Ryde Pier Head.
UPDATE @ 15:17 – Services remain suspended with the next update at 17:00.
UPDATE @ 19:00 – Hovertravel has confirmed that the service will remain suspended for the rest of the day, with an update to be provided at 05:45 on Monday morning.
