Island Line trains will be running a reduced, hourly service until at least Saturday morning due to a member of staff being off work.
South Western Railway has confirmed that a member of train crew being unavailable means the service cannot run at full capacity.
Trains between Ryde Pier Head and Shanklin will now run every hour with disruption expected to continue until the end of the day on Friday (18th February).
It means commuters and schoolchildren will potentially have to rethink their travel options at the start and end of the working day.

Great at least less hooters for a while, though do not understand why all the station lights are left on all night when the trains do not run after 10.00 can anybody answer that
There is a 22.42 departure from Shanklin. The horn is there for safety reasons
When I worked and somone phoned in sick the boss would phone around staff off shift to see if they could cover. We had a saying for this situation. Ka-ching
I presume (or hope) that this practice is against the law now.
Clearly understaffed if the loss of a single person can disrupt services to this extent.
I somehow doubt they’d accept the same excuse if we demanded a matching 50% reduction in the fare.
It’s part of the eccentrics of living on the Isle of Wight! Bloke gets the flu so there’s only half a train service for 3 days. Just go with the flow.
Why can’t our public services do better? Who is accountable? And as a member of the public, where is your recourse…? Every year it gets worse, and the same people want you on public transport to reduce emissions??
