Unsettled weather conditions look set to continue this week with local forecasters IW Met Service issuing a yellow weather warning for heavy rain on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Heavy outbreaks of rain pushing up from the south are expected from late tomorrow morning (Tuesday), although it is currently unclear how badly the Island will be affected. If things go as forecast then 10-15mm of rainfall could be seen on the Island in just a few hours.
A second spell of rainfall is likely from Tuesday evening onward. This second spell will be rather scattered and localised in nature but has the potential of being extremely heavy with 20-40mm of rainfall (locally) not out of the question. This would inevitably lead to localised flash flooding.
Forecasters also say there is the risk of some lightning embedded in the heaviest showers. In addition, rather strong and gusty winds in and around the heaviest showers are possible too. Up to 50mph is expected in some areas.
The yellow weather warning is in force from 12:00 midday on Tuesday 18th until 08:00 on Wednesday 19th June 2019.
