Be inspired by Roman mosaics and make your own pop-up sea monster puppet to take home as part of half-term fun at Newport Roman Villa.
The museum, in Cypress Road, is inviting people of all ages to find out more about Roman monsters and mythical creatures as they explore the remains and complete the monster trail.
Roman sea monsters were called Cetus and would often be depicted as having the head of a greyhound and the body of a whale.
The villa will be open on Wednesday, 26th October and Friday 28th October, from 10:00 until 14:30, and entry, including all the activities, is just £1 per person. Booking is not required. Numbers may be limited at busy times, but a sea monster kit will be provided for families to complete at home.
The villa itself will be open to explore on these special days, with incredible Roman remains, artifacts and a replica Roman garden.
The event has been organised by the Isle of Wight Heritage Service and for more information, call 01983 823433 or visit www.iwight.com/museums.
